Yes, Americans would know who he is, but people outside of America up to the age of about 14 generally have no idea about him. Around that age, they do now of him, but most still do not know his significance.

Well slaves were actually freed at time of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Belal was a slave from Africa and was freed by Muhammad and his companions. 1441 years ago everyone was given rights. But nations and people chose to use their own ideas. No where in all the Holy Books whether the Torah, Bible or the Quran does it say you treat a human as or like a slave. We are all slave of Allah, who has created us and unto him we return.

You all do know lincoln only freed the slaves to save the union he didn't do it just cause he didn't support slavery he didn't even free all of them. He even wrote "If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that"

Anyone can relate to Lincoln. No matter who they are. In some way he has positively impacted the lives of all Americans for the past 150 years. He was great man but also just a man. He was humble and liked to tell dirty jokes. When I learn about him I can see myself in him. I think that is why he is so loved.
