you feel very interested and excited by it
Example: The American drive to land a man on the Moon captured the imagination/
attention o f the whole world.

Example: I thought the film was pretty shallow.

Mature -
1) 
(adj) 
(B2) mature people behave like adults in a way that shows they are 
well developed emotionally
Example: He’s very mature for his age.

completely grown physically
Example: a mature adult

Superficial (adj) 
(C2) - not complete and involving only the most obvious things 
Example: I thought that article was written at a very superficial level.

the fact of experiencing something or being affected by it 
because of being in a particular situation or place
Example: You should always limit your exposure to the sun.
Example: Even a brief exposure to radiation is very dangerous.

Cite (v) 
- to mention something as proof for a theory or as a reason why something 
has happened
Example: The company cited a 13 percent decline in new orders as evidence that
overall demand for its products was falling

Immerse (v) 
- to become completely involved in something
Example: She got some books out of the library and immersed herself in Jewish
history and culture.
