5.0 Recommendations
NEMA should train more personnel to handle the process and set up sensitization workshops for the general populace so that they are included in the process and are aware of the Environmental Impact Assessment Process so they do not act against it.
In regard to few local consultants foreign expatriates should be hired by the government to deal with the new industry as local personnel is trained probably as it is witnesses in Makerere University courses to do with oil should be introduced so the country can deal with oil and gas industry amicably in relation to Environmental law.
The government should also fund research projects in the field of oil so as to come up with conclusive laws and accurate data for the protection of the environment.
6.0 Conclusion
The oil and gas industry is a very important and lucrative industry which however if not managed properly can lead to acute damage of the environment the government has put up many laws which are supposed to regulate the industry and mechanism to see to their enforcement like the Environmental Impact Assessment with the professional recognition and following of all these measure surely Uganda’s oil and gas policy will be achieved, THE POLICY GOAL IS TO USE THE COUNTRY’S OIL AND GAS RESOURCES.
