Word list

Predominant (adj) 
(C2) - more noticeable or important, or larger in number, than 
others.
Example: Dancers have a predominant role in this performance.

Bipedal (adj) 
- walking on two legs, or relating to this movement.
Example: Some dinosaurs were capable o f bipedal walking.

To fossilize (v) 
- to become or to make something become a fossil (= something 
preserved in rock for a very long period).
Example: The birds’ bones are very fragile and tend to break down before they
fossilize.

Excavation (n) 
- the act of removing earth that is covering very old objects buried in 
the ground in order to discover things about the past.
Example: Three skulls and one full skeleton were discovered during the excavation of
an Egyptian tomb.

Prominent (adj)

very well-known and important:
Example: The government should be playing a more prominent role in promoting
human rights.

Pelvis (n) 
- the bones that form a bowl-shaped structure in the area below the waist 
at the top of the legs, to which the leg bones and spine (= row of bones in the back) 
are joined

To accommodate (v) 
- to give what is needed to someone.
Example: We always try to accommodate (= help) our clients with financial
assistance if necessary.

Stance (n) 
- a particular way of standing; position.
Example: Jenny took up a stance with her feet slightly apart, ready to catch the ball.

Limb (n) 
- an arm or leg of a person or animal.
Example: The accident victims mostly had injuries to their lower limbs (= legs).
