Abstract
On the basis of comparative analysis of reforms in drinking water supply and sew- erage services in urban areas of Argentina and Chile and taking into account recent experiences of other Latin American countries (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, etc.), the study identifies the factors exogenous and endogenous to the water sector which determine its performance or, in other words, success or failure.
