Below are two charts that document the quantitative data for each group of students. 

Actual names of the students were left out to protect their privacy. It is important to note the Tier 

of ACCESS given to each student when analyzing the students’ progress or lack thereof.

Both writing samples were narratives and were scored with the same rubric. Students 

used the topic of their choice and were not given direct assistance. Moreover, it is worth 

mentioning that it is extremely difficult to receive a 3 on a writing piece using this rubric. If I 

could display the actual writing samples, it is possible one would notice more growth than shown 

in the results below for both groups.
