The diagram below shows how olive oil is produced.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features,
and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram provides a step-by-step overview of olive oil production process.
At first olives are collected and then they are milled in a milling machine. The
milled olives are then pressed and the oil is extracted. The
extracted oil is
then either prepared to be refined or is cold-pressed to produce cold-pressed
olive oil.
Having been prepared, the oil is then refined
and finally the product is
combined with virgin olive oil to produce a type of olive oil with less than 1.5%
acidity.
Still, the cold-pressed olive oil may undergo some other stages. The process
may result in either extra virgin olive oil with 1% or less acidity or virgin olive
oil with more than 1% or less than 3% acidity. As described before, cold-
pressed olive oil may be combined with refined olive oil to produce a third type
of olive oil with less than 1.5% acidity.
Finally, as shown in
the diagram, there are various types of olive oil
depending on the acidity level.
