The change of activity state of millisecond delayed fluorescence of chlorophyll a phase in leaves of
pumpkin seedlings (Cucurbita pepo), treated with chloramphenicol was investigated. The character of
induction transitions of msec DF of chlorophyll a was revealed that chloramphenicol to supress of initial
charge separation and stability of electron flow on primary quinone acceptor Q
A
in electron transport chain
of PS 2 in connection from time of adaptation. The
chloramphenicol action is identical to effect of
methylviologen. Under high content of ROS, induced by effect of MV, effect of chloramphenicol was
increased and result in complete loss of PS 2 activity. It is proposed that chloramphenicol lead to
suppression of D1 protein formation de novo, destructed by oxidative stress and to disturb the equilibrium
between inactivation of reaction center of PS 2 and new centers synthesis.
