Channel Tunnel 1930s
A tunnel under the English Channel linking Britain and France had been
seriously considered since the 19th century. Proposals put forward in 1930 are
set out here. The impact on British trade and industry was a matter of
contention, as was the question of whether public or private money should
finance the tunnel.
