MUSTAQIL ISHLAR ROYHATI-EGAMOV QUVONCHBEK

What do they mean?

In the example discussed above, the main clause is "What will happen?" and the subordinate clause is "Under what conditions (or at what time, when) will this happen?" expresses the opinion that
In such sentences, the integral semantic and grammatical connection of the main and subordinate clauses is expressed. In general, subordinate constructions can express the most different meanings : method and degree of action, place, time, condition, cause, consequence, purpose, comparison, concession. But in this article we will focus on only two types, representing time and conditions.
In speech, such constructions represent logical, space-time and causal relations. Therefore, the advanced English learner must understand when to use tenses and conditionals.

Used unions

A characteristic feature is that in complex sentences, the main clause is always one, and there can be several subordinate clauses. All of them are directly related to the main component (logically and grammatically) and are added to it with the help of various connectives, related phrases. Here are the most commonly used ones:

  • if - if;

  • in case - in case;

  • when - when;

  • while - while, while;

  • as soon as (as long as) - in a short time;

  • until - until, before;

  • then - after;

  • before - before;

  • if (if not) - if not.

Note that the conjunction used does not always help to identify A, it is often necessary to apply a grammatical rule discussed later in the article. You need to ask a question about the subordinate clause to make sure that it is a subordinate clause or a sentence with time.
Also note that a sentence can begin with a preposition or a clause. Is it hard not to get lost? Just pay attention to which part of the sentence the conjunction is in (one or the other from the list above).
