About the Authors
Dr Nic Alwin
is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead of the Complex Cases Service in
Pennine Care NHS Trust. His clinical work has focused on the community treatment and management
of difficult to treat individuals. He is Chair of the North West of England
Personality Disorder Special
Interest Group and Chair of the British Psychological Society National Steering Group for the
Implementation of the Personality Disorder Guidelines.
Professor Ron Blackburn
is Emeritus Professor of Clinical and Forensic Psychological Studies at the
University of Liverpool. For
most of his clinical career, he has worked with mentally disordered
offenders in the English special hospitals, his main interests being in the assessment and treatment of
personality disorders.
His publications include
The Psychology of Criminal Conduct
(Wiley, 1993), and he
has also been editor of the journal
Legal and Criminological Psychology
.
Professor Kate Davidson
is Honorary Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Glasgow and
the Director of the Glasgow Institute of Psychosocial Interventions, NHS Greater Glasgow. She is also
Director of the South of Scotland Cognitive Therapy Course. Her main
research interests are in
developing the evidence base for psychological interventions in those with personality disorder and
deliberate self-harm.
