something but not in a way that you know about or understand exactly.
Example: I’m not sure what he does exactly - it has something to do with finance. 2 To distinguish (v) (B2) - to notice or understand the difference between two things,
or to make one person or thing seem different from another.
Example: He’s colour-blind and can’t distinguish (the difference) between red and green easily. 3 Haphazard (adj) - not having an obvious order or plan.
Example: He tackled the problem in a typically haphazard manner. 4 Incompetence (n) - lack of ability to do something successfully or as it should be
done.
Example: Management have demonstrated almost unbelievable incompetence in their handling o f the dispute. 5 Overwhelmingly (adv) - to a very great degree or with a great majority.
Example: The country voted overwhelmingly for independence’ 6 To narrow down (phr verb) - to reduce the number of possibilities or choices
Example: We’re working to narrow down the list o f possible suspects. 7 Cue (n) - a signal for someone to do something; A circumstance or piece of
information which aids the memory in retrieving details not recalled spontaneously.
Example: They started washing up, so that was our cue to leave the party. 8 Identical (adj) - exactly the same, or very similar.
Example: I’ve got three identical blue suits 9 To comprise (v) - to be the parts or members of something; to make up something,
to consist of.
Example: Italian students comprise 60 percent of the class. 10
