Addressing the Sustainable Development Goals, the White Paper
on Efficient and Sustainable Inland Water Transport in Europe and
the new strategy of SC.3 adopted in 2016, SC.3 focuses on main
challenges and opportunities for inland navigation, highlighting the
initiatives aiming to improve the role of inland water transport in
secure transport chains, promote the intermodality and respond
effectively to new market requirements through:
international conferences (High-level Conference held in
February 2017 on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of
ITC, the International Conference to be held in Wroclaw,
Poland, in April 2018);
workshops held at sessions of the Working Parties;
engagement of key stakeholders in discussion of topical issues;
addressing cross-sectoral issues in collaboration with other ITC
Working Parties.
