(Abstract)
Language and culture are inextricably linked: the use of language only makes sense in context,
and culture is part of that context. One of the important inferences is that a language cannot be
taught without a corresponding culture. The relevance of culture to foreign language learning is
very obvious when it comes to teaching literature. Literature has always been considered to offer
the ideal implement for studying the way people live. Literature can be studied for a better
understanding of literature, and culture can be studied for a better understanding of literature.
Thus, an effective way to make literature in a foreign language accessible to students is to
introduce them to the culture in which this literature was conceived.
