To meet an overwhelming and deeply felt demand, the Italian Embassy in London and the Italian Cultural Institute have decided to open a Book of Condolence to allow Luciano Pavarotti’s mourning public to express its feeling at the passing of the much loved Maestro.

Luciano Pavarotti was honoured to have been born in Italy and throughout his life he deeply felt that Italy, and his home town of Modena, gave him a unique sense of grounding and depth of musical tradition, but he was also proud to be a Citizen of the World and as such London occupied a special place in his generous heart.

It was after all in the British Capital that he made a triumphant debut at Covent Garden in 1963 and since then he considered London a second home.

The Book of Condolence is available at the Italian Cultural Institute, 39 Belgrave Square, London SW1X 8NX from today, 10th September 2007 for two weeks.(opening hours 9.30am till 5.30pm)

The Italian Cultural Institute is also planning a series of events to commemorate the life of the Maestro.

More details will be available TBA from the Institute’s website www.
