The purpose of this study called The Aspect of Socio-Cultural Change for
South Marmara’s Young Farmers is to analyze the effects on socio-cultural change
among young farmers, their expectations about the future, and their perceptions
about farming in 2019. In order to investigate these themes, this study focuses on
young farmers’ farming experiences. The research concentrates on both a
phenomenological analysis with qualitative case study and presents arguments of
young farmers’ perspectives. In this study there are 20 young farmers interviewed
living in South Marmara.
According to the data and results obtained in the research, the young farmers
have different perceptions about their personal positions such as ages, gender and
education. They have also common meanings in the context of farming. In social
context, the young farmers have been also affected about the context of traditional
farming. In case of this effect, it is determined that despite of the feeling of social
loneliness among young farmers, their rural environment coincide in channeling
themselves to new cultural values and finding solutions apart from traditional
knowledge. It is known that there has been migration from rural to urban areas for
centuries. Although this migration is still in continuing, it is true that individuals and
communities who are not able to have some ecological awareness are heading
towards the countryside.
