2. To drill into reservoirs where it is not possible to drill with vertical well
such as beneath the lake, or below salt-dome formation and so on.
3. In comparison with other well types here more wells can be drilled
together in a group from one surface place and, as a result, allows less rigs
moves, disturbance area of a surface is less, simpler and commercially
beneficial to complete and produce these wells. 40 or even more wells can
be drilled from one surface platform into the reservoir and subsequently a lot
of various hydrocarbon zones can be achieved from one pad, lowering cost.
4. A few productive sands can be completed at the highest stratigraphic
points by drilling alongside the underneath of a reservoir-limiting fault.
5. Utilization of relief well is another advantage of drilling slanted wells
which allows relieving the of producing well pressure without a blowout risk.
In this case, it is possible to drill different wells from a pad at a safe distance
from risky zone by intersecting issued wellbore. The “killing the well” is
conducted by pumping into the wellbore kill fluid which overrides the high
pressure which causes blowout.
