These days, a growing number of well-known sportspersons are promoting different ranges of sports equipment. Although there can be some demerits in this development, I see more benefits that can be brought about for both product owners and sportspeople.
Starting with disadvantages to sportsmen and sportswomen advertising sports products, there can be several of them. The biggest drawback in this trend can be the loss of popularity of these sportspeople among their fans, which can mainly be caused by their promotional activities. What I mean is that if famous athletes pay too much attention to advertising to be in the public eye, they may start doing less exercise and lack working on their skills, resulting in low performance in sporting events. Not only that but also if the product being advertised is not of good quality, the fans of these renowned sportspersons will get disappointed and lose interest in them. Therefore, these activities can harm their fame in sports.
I believe that there are more advantages compared to disadvantages. The major one from this event is that products have more sales than those not advertising. For example, Lionel Messi is a crucial partner of Pepsi company, which is one of the world’s most well-known drinks. After this collaboration, Pepsi make billions of dollars each year. Another advantage is getting promoted products. For example, a new opening company’s sales usually are low, and they need this type of advertisement to get more popular and easily come to the market.
In conclusion, I can understand why people might have wanted to complain complaining with well-known sportsmen advertising but it seems to me that an advertising product is much more beneficial to companies and sportsmen future careers.
