🔵Video games are a form of art. 🔵 The concept of video games being an art form is a commonly debated topic throughout the world. I fully agree with this idea and there are some reasons why video games can be an extremely new form of art.
The video game is the latest example of art. The reason is that art is considered to have the purpose of evoking emotions and embodying an idea which is also associated with paintings, sculpture, cinema, literature, and even music. Likewise, in video games are included graphic artists are creating characters and levels, writers prepare story and narration, and programmers are merging it into one. As a result, all of the parts can be considered as an art form, which they are used to show art in a whole game putting some of the background pictures, music, and stories together with high quality.
Another legitimation of video games as art came in form of an exhibition museum. A number of video games were selected by the Museum of Modern Art as a part of its permanent collection. Some of them are Another World, Street Fighter II, and Portal. The main reason behind picking them was to showcase their specific design elements. Moreover, there is freedom (within a created world that is) to the players by choosing their path, manipulating game space, choosing dialogues, and playing styles, which means the player is the first-person experiencing things. This leads to learning some skills at the same time like cooking and building and Minecraft can be a good example in this case. However, I believe that the purpose of creating video games is to save the art in a virtual world.
In conclusion, video games refer not only encompass all areas of art but also help to learn some essential skills and keep them all together in a certain world. In my opinion, video games should be considered a staple version of art.
