Washington dc monuments and Memorials

About 1000 names on the wall are missing people.
Next to the wall there are 2 statues.
One of 3 nurses and a wounded soldier and one of 3 soldiers.
People leave gifts and flowers at the wall to honor the people who gave their lives in the war. If there is a diamond next to the name the person is dead and if there is a plus next to the name the person is missing.
In total the wall is 493 feet 6 inches.

The Lincoln Memorial is a very special site. The Memorial was built to honor the nation’s 16TH president…LINCOLN!

Lincoln is located inside a chamber located on a grass mall.

The Lincoln Statue stands 19 ft tall and weighs 175 tons!!!!!

The walls contain the most famous speeches he gave in his life time.

The columns surrounding the walls stand for the 36 states in the union at the time of Lincolns death.

The National Mall in Washington D.C is two miles long. It has 3 parts. One is monuments, and there is a pool, and a garden.

The Jefferson Memorial is a memorial to honor Thomas Jefferson.
He was the 3rd President of the U.S.
In the center of the building is a 19 foot tall statue of Jefferson
The Jefferson Memorial is surrounded by cherry blossom trees given by Japan.
On the walls of the building are inscriptures of the Declaration of Independence!
Thomas Jefferson was the author of the Declaration of Independence!
