As you can see, it is a very short poem that is rather like a Japanese haiku in its
simplicity and focus, although it is free from a haiku’s formal three-line
structure. I’ve shared it to make the point that you don’t have to choose a grand
subject or an elaborate rhyme scheme to write a poem that means something to
