Progress report – Assessment
- topicality and range of coverage of the subject (does the student show awareness of the range of issues relating to the topic and the value of conducting research in it)
- demonstration of the quality, range and relevance of the literature review (is there evidence of awareness of theories, issues and debates surrounding the chosen topic and is there proper referencing of relevant material)
- validity and reliability of actual methodology undertaken and appropriateness of methodology still to be carried out
- critical self-evaluation of work undertaken and results presented (if relevant, realistic revision of goals in relation to discoveries made) - student should demonstrate evidence of a capability of reflecting on the way in which the research is progressing
- further deadlines set relating to development of ideas rather that activities (does the student show awareness of how to further develop the project in ways that show understanding of the issues
