A hardy large shrub to small coastal tree with edible red/orange berries



Small native tree with rounded form 

Height: 3 to 5 metres 

Width: 2 metres 

Pruning: some early shaping 

required if growing as a single-

trunked tree. Can be pruned to form 

a hedge 


  Fast growing with a dense 


  Green/yellow flowers in summer and orange seed cases that open in 

winter with black seeds 









  Coastal tolerant              

  Attractive flowers and 

edible fruit                                                    

  Street tree for drier 


Preferred conditions 

Tolerates exposed conditions. 

Adaptable to a wide range of 

soils but prefers full sun
