distinguished from other varieties by its small flowers, narrow lobed petals and narrow sepals
(Brown et al., 1998).
Based on recent collections, Harris and Rye (2013) undertook a re-assessment of V. plumosa
varieties. It was found that the variety is a synonym of V. p. var. brachyphylla as there are no
reliable morphological characters that distinguish the two (Harris and Rye, 2013). Verticordia
Fitzgerald River National Park (Harris and Rye, 2013). The narrow-petalled featherflower was
removed as declared rare flora in September 2013 from the Wildlife Conservation Act 1950
endangered under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act)
as, prior to the commencement of the EPBC Act, it was listed as endangered under Schedule 1 of
the Endangered Species Protection Act 1992 (Cwlth).
This assessment is due to current information on Verticordia plumosa var. pleiobotrya, stating the
variety is no longer considered a valid taxon.
Notice of the proposed amendment and the reasons was made available for public comment for 46
business days between 24 November 2014 and 30 January 2015. No comments were received.

and Consideration for delisting
As identified in the taxonomic discussion provided above, Verticordia plumosa var. pleiobotrya is
no longer considered to be a valid taxon and is not eligible for listing in any category.
Consideration for delisting
As Verticordia plumosa var. pleiobotrya is not considered to be a valid variety, delisting is not
expected to have any negative impacts.
