THEME:Using Problem-Solving Technologies to Enhance Reading Comprehension

NAME OF THE TECHNOLOGIES:

  • Story Element Cards.

  • Prediction Passages.

TEACHING AIDS:By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use problem solving technologies to enhance their reading comprehension skills.
MATERIALS:
- Computer or tablet with internet access
- Reading passage (e.g. news article, short story )
- Online tools such as Quizlet, Kahoot
LESSON PROCEDURE:

  1. Introduction

– Begin by asking students if they have ever used problem solving technologies before.

  • Explain that problem solving technologies can help us understand and analyze information more effectively.

  • Tell students that today’s lesson will focus on using these technologies to enhance their reading comprehension skills.



  1. Pre-reading activity

  • Show students the reading passage and ask them to make predictions about what it might be about.

  • Use an online tool such as Quizlet to have students share their predictions and discuss them as a class.



  1. Reading activity

  • Have students read the passage independently or in pairs.

  • Use an online tool such as Kahoot to create a quiz based on the passage for students to take after they have finished reading.

  • Encourage students to use problem solving technologies such as highlighting, note-taking, and summarizing to help them understand and analyze the information.



  1. Post-reading activity

  • Have students discuss their answers top the quiz as a class.

  • Use an online tool such as Padlet to have students share their thoughts and opinions about the reading passage.

  • Ask students to reflect on how using problem solving technologies helkped them better understand the information.

CONCLUSION



  • Recap the main points of the lesson and emphasize the importance of using problem solving technologies to enhance reading comprehension skills.

  • Encourage students to continue using these technologies in their future reading and learning experiences.

Assessment:



  • Observe students during the pre-reading, reading, and post-reading activities to assess their use of problem soving technologies.
