Melaleuca huegelii subsp
. huegelii is a shrub or
small tree that can reach up to 5m, however at
Peppermint Grove Beach the shrubs are planted,
typically wind swept and only just over 1m tall. It
occurs occur north and south of Peppermint
Grove Beach. The photograph below is taken at
Barndi Walk Carpark
The leaves are scattered along the stem,
spreading and up to 6mm long and wide wih a
pointed apex.
Each flower consists of sepals up 1mm long,
petals up to 3mm long and 5 bundles of 7-11
stamens up to 1cm long.
The white to cream flowers occur in terminal,
cylindrical densely flowered spikes reaching up to
10cm long. The stem axis grows out beyond the
flowering spike.
The fruiting spike is cylindrical up to 15cm long,
with numerous individual fruits.
