Novruz is a traditional holiday celebrating the arrival of spring in Azerbaijan.

Preparations for Novruz usually begin a month in advance. One of the four elements is celebrated every Tuesday for a month. These elements are water, fire, wind, and earth.

The main symbols of Novruz holiday are şəkərbura, paklava, malt and khoncha. Novruz is a family holiday. On the eve of the holiday, the whole family gathers around the dining table.

The holiday lasts for several days and ends with festive dances and entertainment of folklore groups.
