KEY TERMS
Accident
An adverse event that results in injury or ill health.
Incident
Occurrence arising out of, or in the course of, work that could or does result in injury and ill health.
An incident where
injury and ill health occurs is sometimes referred to as an ‘accident’.
Dangerous occurrence
One
of several specific, reportable adverse events as defined in the Reporting of Injuries,
Diseases and Dangerous
Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR).
