Storage room for fuel oil coated with
PCI Visconal.
For indoor use.
For walls and floors.
For coating surfaces made of
concrete, render/plaster and screed
for collecting trays and rooms for fuel
oil EL (common fuel oil) and
transformer oil.
Fields of application
Protects the groundwater, durably
waterproofs collecting trays and
rooms for fuel oil EL, diesel fuel with
≤ 0.5% organic fraction and
transformer oil.
Bridges cracks up to a width of
0.2 mm arising in the substrate at a
later stage.
Easy to clean, leaked fuel oil EL and
transformer oil can be easily
vacuum-cleaned or wiped off from the
PCI Visconal coating without leaving
any residues.
Temperature resistant, multi-purpose
use for collecting trays in the interior
as mentioned above.
Officially tested in accordance with
the building and test principles for
water protection coatings issued by
Deutsche Institut für Bautechnik
Berlin (German Institute for Building
Technique Berlin), by Institut für
Massivbau und Baustofftechnologie
(Institute for Solid Building and
Building Material Technology) at the
University Karlsruhe.

Technical data
Requirements
Cracks in the retaining walls and the
bottom of the collecting pans and
rooms caused by setting or
contraction must be prevented by
taking constructive measures.
Expansion joints in collecting pans
are not allowed. Please ask for
technical advice if expansion joints
already exist.
Water acting on the reverse side of
the coating must be prevented,
waterproofing may be required in
accordance with DIN 18195 – Water-
proofing buildings – dimensioning and
construction.
Areas of concrete, plaster/render and
screed must be at least 28 days old,
dry, able to bear weight and void free.
The substrate must be structurally
sound, rough, non-slip and fine-pored
in the surface. It must be free from
honeycombs, voids, cracks and
ridges, dust, tar, pitch, forming oil and
other residues which could impair
adhesion. Edges must be broken.
The substrate must be free from a
dusty or sandy surface. Plaster/render
and screed must have a firm bond to
the supporting structural elements
and/or retaining walls and the bottom.
It is not allowed to smooth the
surface with the steel trowel, but it
must be rubbed down with a wooden
board. It is not allowed to powder the
surface with cement. A firmly bonding
render is to be applied to brickwork
and concrete areas which are not in
compliance with these requirements.
Pipe culverts below the maximum
possible liquid level as well as
expansion joints are not allowed!
The coating must not be applied until
the before-mentioned structural
requirements are given.
The surface must be approved by
the company carrying out the
coating work before applying the
coating!
Preparation
Mechanical cleaning with a hard
broom, steel brush or industrial type
vacuum cleaner. Break-outs can be
repaired with the following
PCI products: PCI Pecihaft bonding
slurry, PCI Legaran RP corrosion
protection, PCI Nanocret R4 PCC/R2
repair mortar, PCI Nanocret FC
concrete smoothing compound, and
PCI Repament or PCI Periplan in floor
areas.
Internal corners are to be formed as
covings with PCI Repafix.
Preparation of substrate
Technical Data Sheet
PCI Visconal
®
A minimum of one base coat and two
top coats are required to produce an
oil-proof coating. To make the number
of applied coats visible, the second and
any further coats should only be applied
as far up as leaving 1 cm of the previous
coat visible. Every coat must be applied
pore-free and until saturated. Every layer
must be completely dry before applying
the next one.
Priming
1
Dilute PCI Visconal grey with 50% of
water (volume 2 : 1) and thoroughly brush
into the substrate.
2
Allow the base coat to dry for at least
8 hours (at +23°C).
Coating
3
Apply the first top coat of undiluted
PCI Visconal red to the primed substrate
using a trowel. Allow to dry for at least
8 hours.
4
Apply undiluted PCI Visconal grey as
second top coat when the first top coat
is dry.
5
The coating is completely dry and able
to bear weight after 7 days at the
earliest.
Application procedure of PCI Visconal
The first top coat with PCI Visconal (red) can be applied to the surface
primed with PCI Visconal (grey) diluted with 50% of water after a drying
time of approx. 8 hours.
An oil-proof coating requires one base coat and two top coats; therefore
the second top coat with PCI Visconal (grey) can be applied after a drying
time of another 8 hours.
PCI Visconal is suitable for coating
concrete surfaces (C20/25 according to
DIN EN 206-1:2001-07; DIN 1045-
1:2008-08; DIN 1045-2:2008-08;
DIN 1045-3:2008-08), plaster surfaces
(PIII according to DIN V 18550:2005-04)
and screed surfaces (CT 25 - F4
according to DIN 18560-3:2006-03;
DIN 18560-7:2004-4; DIN 18560-
1:2004-04; DIN 18560-1/A1:2008-07;
AGI A 12-1:1997-06) in collecting trays
and catchment areas for:
- extra light heating oil according to
DIN 51 603-1,
- unused combustion engine oils and
motor vehicle transmission oils and
- mixtures of saturated and aromatic
hydrocarbons with an aromatic content
of ≤ 20% by weight and a flash point
> 55 °C inside buildings closed on all
sides and outdoors.
Do not use PCI Visconal at substrate
temperatures below +5°C and above
+25°C (maximum 50% relative
humidity).
Drying times must be followed!
Make sure that the coat applied is not
too thin.
Clean tools and mixing buckets with
water immediately after use; the
cured product can only be removed
by mechanical scraping.
The present guideline regulated by
law does not require PCI Visconal
coatings for catchment areas to be
carried out by a professional
company. In case of a storage
quantity over 10,000 liters the work
should be done by a professional
company.
Please note

an allergic reaction. Keep out of reach
of children. Wear protective gloves. Do
not breathe aerosol. Protect eyes where
there is risk from splashing. In case of
contact with eyes thoroughly rinse with
water. If the eye irritation does not ease
off within a few minutes seek medical
advice. If medical advice is needed,
have product container or label at hand.
