Glenfiddich Gold Rush: Single malt awarded an unprecedented eight gold medals from the prestigious 

International Spirits Challenge 2013

 

July 4, 2013 – Toronto, ON - Glenfiddich single malt Scotch has been awarded an incredible eight gold medals at 



the International Sprits Challenge, a number unprecedented in its history. These shining accolades highlight and 

confirm Glenfiddich’s status as the World’s Most Awarded single malt Scotch whisky.

 

Despite tough global competition, Glenfiddich won a staggering 14 awards in total, impressing the judges with 



exceptional whisky. In what has become an exceptional year for Glenfiddich, the prestigious gold medals were 

awarded to the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old, Glenfiddich 18 Year Old, Glenfiddich 30 Year Old, Glenfiddich 40 Year 

Old, Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish, Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon Cask Reserve, 

Glenfiddich 125

th

 Anniversary Edition and Glenfiddich Ultimate 38 Year Old, in addition to a further six silver 



medals.

 

Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich’s Malt Master, added:  “This year is an extra special year for Glenfiddich, as we 

celebrate 125 years of pioneering spirit and innovation; this latest win is testament to our founder William Grant’s 

vision to create the ‘best dram in the valley’.”

 year, the International Spirit’s Challenge awards are announced in the June issue of Drinks 



International. Having evolved to become the leading event in promoting quality spirits from around the world, the 

competition is tough, receiving over 1,000 entries from over 70 countries, with each whisky undergoing a blind 

taste test from each member of the judging panel.  The panel was comprised of whisky experts from across the 

globe, headed up by John Ramsay, who has over 40 years experience in the whisky industry.
