Preseason All-American by the Sports Net-
work...2009 Preseason All-OVC selection...2009
Second-team preseason All-American selection by
Lindy’s Football Magazine...He is a two-time first-
team All-OVC selection
and two-time honorable
mention All-American...Millard graded out at 93 per-
cent last season with 57 decleater blocks...He has
not allowed a sack in 26 straight games...Millard was
named a first-team All-OVC selection and honorable
mention All-American by the Sports Network after his
sophomore season (2007).

Eastern Illinois will visit Penn State this season on Oct. 10 and play in the largest
college football venue in America with a listed capacity of 107,282. The previous
top crowd EIU played in front of was at Illinois last season with 60,131 in atten-
dance.
•
EIU head coach Bob Spoo enters his 23rd season as the Panthers head coach.
He is currently tied with Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer for the longest active tenure
as head coach at the same Division I school. Both coaches have been with their
respective programs since 1987. Penn State’s Joe Paterno heads the list with his
time at Penn State starting in 1966.
•
This season Eastern Illinois will make its first football appearance on ESPNU
when the Panthers host Tennessee State on Nov. 19 at O’Brien Field.
•
EIU will be looking to send a running back over the 1,000 yard mark for the sixth
straight season this year as the Panthers line-up several new faces in the backfield.
EIU returns Florida transfer Chevon Walker as the top running back and added
another Florida transfer Mon Williams to compete for time.
•
EIU will have to replace several players on its defensive line after losing three All-
OVC performers including Kansas City Chiefs free agent signee Pierre Walters.
Top candidates this season are seniors Andre Lima and Trevor Frericks.

Haynes enters the 2009 season ranked sixth on the
NCAA list for career interceptions among active
players (9)...He moved into the EIU career Top 10 last
season with his ninth career interception...Haynes
also has 14 pass break-ups credited in 2008...He led
the Panthers in solo tackles last season with 44 solo
stops and had 60 total tackles...As
a freshman in
2007, earned All-OVC second-team honors after
netting 55 tackles and five interceptions in 12
games...Was tabbed OVC Newcomer of the Week
that season after intercepting two passes in a win
over Southeast Missouri.
