The World wide web

The World Wide Web (WWW), commonly referred to as the web, is a global system of interconnected documents and other resources, linked by hyperlinks and URLs (Uniform Resource Locators). The web was invented by Sir Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 while he was working at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) as a way to facilitate information sharing among scientists.
