Topic 12 There are a lot of holidays and festivals in Uzbekistan. We celebrate national and international holidays. I like both. I want to speak about our national holidays. We have a lot of national holidays. My favorite national holiday is Navruz. We celebrate it on the 21st of March. It is our New Year in spring. We cook national cuisine on this day. We cook somsa, chuchvara, halim, sumalak and palov. Sumalak is symbol of this holiday. We cook sumalak all night. Children play many traditional games on this day. We visit our relatives. This holiday is very important in our life. There are many international holidays in Uzbekistan, too. They are New Year, Mother’s day and Children’s day. My favor- ite international holiday is Mother’s Day. I always give gifts to my mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Men do all housework on this day. My father always cooks dinner on this day. I clean the house and my brother does the shopping.
