OUTCOMES Draw students’ attention to the outcomes. Point out that in parts
1 and 3 of the listening test there are two speakers (sometimes 3
in part three).Reassure students that the voices will sound very
diferent (oten male and female). Listening for numbers can
be challenging as numbers like ‘15/50’ sound similar. There are
several types of question in the Listening test. In this unit multiple
choice (choosing an answer from several options) will be practised.
01 The aim here is to check that students understand what is
meant by ‘everyday situations’.

02 Play the recording once. Students only need to identify the
situation ater the first listening.

Conversation 2 Sales assistant: Good aternoon, can I help you?
Customer: Yes, I’m looking for a git for my sister. She’s
going to be 18 next week. So I thought a
piece of jewellery would be nice.
Sales assistant: Good idea! Do you have anything
particular in mind – a necklace perhaps?
Customer: Mm, she has so many necklaces. I was
thinking of a pair of earrings, possibly.
Sales assistant: Does she have a favourite colour?
