ESSENTIAL COMPONENTS

Solar panels.

Panels stand with concrete foundation 
and anti-theft system.

Protection cabinet with fuses, main 
contactor and surge protector device 
(lightning protection).

Pump control box or solar pumping 
inverter.

Ground rod connected to global ground 
circuit, including panels, stands, cabinets, 
controller and pump.

Low level water sensor (stops pump 
immediately if water level drops).

Submersible pump.

OPTIONAL COMPONENTS 

Solar tracking stands (1 or 2 axis) 
(summer / winter).

 Possible input for a backup power 
generator, to be used in case of defect of 
solar panels (Generator is not permanently 
connected).

 Permanent power generator for backup 
or complementary source (cloudy / rainy 
season or sunrise / sunset hours).

Water level sensor in the main tank for 
automatic start/stop of the pump, 
or 
Water level sensor for automatic 
start/stop
 
of the pump, plus water level

possibility of remote 
display.
In most cases, it is not necessary to size each component. The recommended method is to indicate the expected performance 
(daily flow and total head) on the request for quotation, thus letting the suppliers choose how to size the installation, and to 
propose custom-fit equipment for the best price. 
However, once the offers have been received, it is important to verify the sizing recommended by suppliers. For this, a 
calculation method is presented in chapter B - Sizing and calculation.
