Imagine that you are organizing an outdoor gathering in northern Wisconsin in order to better
understand the distinction between climate and weather. Because you
are aware that any given
Saturday in the months of May to August would be a better choice for an outdoor event in Wisconsin
than any given Saturday in January, you would consider the weather when planning the event in the
summer rather than the winter.
The event should not, however, be scheduled
for a specific day
because it is difficult to predict the weather on any given day. Climate can be thought of as "average"
weather that occurs over a long period of time.
