Fly off the handle
Meaning: To become very angry;
to lose control; react too angrily to
something insignificant.
Example: I'm sorry I unintentionally pushed your girlfriend, but there's no
need to fly off the handle.
For donkey’s years
Meaning: For a very long time.
Example: I've had this ring for donkey's years; The new railway won't be
ready for donkey's years.
For want of a better word/term
Meaning: Lacking a more precise word/term; to emphasize that you cannot
think of a more accurate way of explaining what you mean.
Example: He is,
for want of a better word, a grumbler; She should behave
more respectfully or, for want of a better word, decently.
