Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy was born on September 9, 1828 and died on November 20, 1910. Russian writer, publicist and philosopher. He is one of the greatest writers of world literature. His name was included in the list of the 100 most studied personalities in history. Tolstoy led a healthy lifestyle, so he did not drink or smoke. He gave up coffee and meat. In 1906, the Russian Academy of Sciences decided to nominate Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy for the Nobel Prize. Upon learning of this, Tolstoy immediately contacted his friends abroad. The goal was not to get the Nobel, but to ask for help not to get it. He wrote letters to his friends asking them to help him withdraw his candidacy, but Tolstoy was not the only one to do so. Thus, Tolstoy went down in history as the first person to refuse the Nobel Prize. He is the author of novels such as Resurrection, Confession, War and Peace, Anna Karenina.
