On 27 November 1895, Alfred Nobel signed his last will and testament, giving the largest share of his fortune to a series of prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace – the Nobel Prizes. In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank (Sweden’s central bank) established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. In 1968, a sixth prize was established in the field of Economic Sciences; however, it is not considered a "Nobel Prize" but a "Nobel Memorial Prize". The prize ceremonies take place annually. Each recipient (known as a "laureate") receives a gold medal, a diploma, and a monetary award. The Nobel Committee for Literature at the Swedish Academy is responsible for the selection of candidates for the Literature Prize from the names submitted for consideration by qualified nominators, who have been invited through formal letters. The Nobel Committee for Literature 2018 Members Per Wästberg (Chairman) FD, Writer Anders Olsson Professor, Writer Kristina Lugn. A nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize may be submitted by any person who meets the nomination criteria. A letter of invitation to submit is not required. The names of the nominees and other information about the nominations cannot be revealed until 50 years later. After receiving all nominations, the Nobel Committees of the four prize awarding institutions are responsible for the selection of the candidates.
