THE EFFECT OF AIR TEMPERATURE ON THE RAIL PLATES AND THE 
DISTRIBUTION OF STRESSES IN IT

this article cites information on the effect of air temperature on rail 
plets and the distribution of stresses caused by it.

Today we cannot imagine our day without developments. Our century is a 
century of development. Rail transport is continuously developing as all industries 
have developed during this period. In particular, in order to improve the comfort of 
the Rail Road and reduce the labor costs of road workers serving on the road, various 
updated structures have been used on railway overhead structures. As one of these, 
welded rails in portable and stationary methods are widely used in rail welding 
enterprises from 150 m to 2000 m instead of standard 25 m long rails. As each 
novelty has its own advantages and disadvantages, there are also disadvantages to 
using rail plates on the road. Below we will dwell on the effect of air temperature 
when we use rail plets. 
In meteorology, air temperature is understood as the temperature obtained in a 
metrological cabin, which protects a thermometer at a height of 2 m from the 
radiation of sunlight directly from the Earth’s surface and surrounding details. In this 
cabin, quick, extreme, minimum, maximum temperature indicators can be obtained. 
For standard observations, liquid thermometers are used; for quick temperature 
determination, and for measuring the maximum temperature-Mercury, and at low 
temperatures-alcohol. Thermographs are used to continuously record temperature 
changes.[1]
