Caused by compression of the inferior vena
cava.
•
Syndrome is characterized by:

Abdominal discomfort

Anasarca below the level of the diaphragm
–
Abdominal ascites
–
Hepatomegaly
–
Shortness of breath
–
Increased risk for infecHon and thrombosis.
