Question 1 Answer: the study of society and social interaction
This response encompasses both focal areas of sociology.
Question 2 Answer: interact
Interaction at some level combined with a defined area and a shared culture are the components of a society.
Question 3 Answer: the sociological imagination
C. Wright Mills coined this term to refer to making connections between individuals and society.
Question 4 Answer: French Revolution and Industrial Revolution
Both events shaped these classical sociologists’ way of seeing the world sociologically. Comte developed positivism or rules to describe and predict the instability of both of these events in Europe, Marx developed his class-based theory, and Durkheim examined social solidarity by examining “what keeps societies together.”

Karl Marx is a classical sociologist who studied the effects of capitalism, an economic system, on societies during the Industrial Revolution.
