Institute of Botany, ANAS
For the first time the sesquiterpene and coumarin structure of a cornflower ossetica growing in
Azerbaijan were investigated.
By column chromatography from elevated part of cornflower ossetica 4 substances were
obtained individually. On the basis of physico - chemical and spectral analyses the isolated
compounds have been identified as β- sitosterin, sesquiterpene lactones- repin, knitsin and
oksikumarin-umbelliferon. Key words:Centaureaossetica, β- sitosterin, repin, knitsin, umbelliferon
