9 An Ordinary Member may become a Retired Member in accordance with the Regulations. 10 Subject to the provisions of the Articles, the Council shall by Regulations prescribe the eligibility criteria and the conditions for the acceptance for each class of Membership, the procedures for application and election to each class of Membership and the privileges of Membership. 11 The rights and privileges of every Member shall be personal to himself, shall not be transferable and shall cease on death. 12 A Register shall be kept at the Registered Office in which shall be entered the name and address of every Member. 13 13.1 All Ordinary Members and Honorary Members shall be entitled to attend, speak, and vote at General Meetings of the Society. 13.2 Retired Members shall be entitled to receive notice of General Meetings and to attend and speak, but not vote, at General Meetings. 14 A Member shall cease to be a Member if: 14.1 by at least one month’s notice in writing to the General Secretary to resign membership; 14.2 the Council or any committee of the Council, after due enquiry, resolves that the interests of the Society so require. 15 In the event of any Member ceasing to be a Member under Articles 14 or 17 their name shall be removed from the Register and they will not be entitled to describe themself as being a Member or to any of the privileges of a Member. FEES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
16 Membership of the Society does not require payment of a fee or subscription, other than when a member elects to receive the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (JAC) by either electronic or published formats, or any other subscription-based benefit as may be advertised from time to time. There will be separate charges for receipt of the JAC by either electronic or published formats and for the receipt of any other subscription-based benefits as may be available from time to time. The subscription or fee for receipt of the Journal or subscription-based benefits shall be notified to members each year and the level of fees and subscriptions reviewed and agreed by Council from time to time.
17 A member who is in arrears with the fee or subscription charged will be notified in writing, by either email or letter, that they are in arrears and will be notified of the date by which the arrears must be paid.
18 Failure to pay the arrears will result in the Society ceasing access to electronic copies of the JAC and cancellation of printed copies of the JAC.
19 In circumstances described in paragraph 18 above the Member will remain a Member of the Society but will not receive JAC.
