When the groups finish, elicit some ideas from

Erase the left-hand side of the board and write 
the four language skills: 
reading, listening, 
speaking

Ask the students to identify which of the four 
areas they personally find the most difficult 
in English.

Have a class vote: read out the four areas and 
ask the students to raise their hand when they 
hear the one that is the most difficult for them.

Ask the students to look at the activities that 
their group categorised as very useful in Ex. C.

Encourage them to underline all the activities 
that could help them improve their weak area.

Finally, ask the students to consider the 
underlined activities and choose one activity that 
they want to try.

What other ways are there to categorise the

Check that the students understand the question 
and then ask them to work in pairs to think of 
ideas. If necessary, give an example to get them 
started (e.g.

a small group/as a class; in class/outside class/ 
at home
).

Elicit some ideas from the class.

Elicit or teach the meaning of useful (describes 
something that helps you).
• 
Tell the students that they are going to categorise 
the same information, this time in groups, using 
different criteria. Ask the students to copy the 
three headings into their notebooks, leaving 
space under each one to write their ideas.
