Hungary:
In 1920 borders of the new state of Hungary (formed
from parts of
the Austro Hungarian Empire) are formalised by the treaty of Trianon.
Ireland:
In 1922 Britain grants the southern counties of Ireland dominion
status. They are renamed the Irish Free State.
North Africa, the Middle East and the Ottomans
Armenia:
In 1918 Armenia declares independence
from Russian and Ottoman
influence. In 1920 both Turkey and the USSR invade Armenia,
forcing it to
hand back all former Ottoman territory. Remaining parts of Armenia are
absorbed by the USSR.
Azerbaijan:
In 1918 Azerbaijan declares independence
from the Russian
Empire, but in 1920 is over-run by Soviet forces
and absorbed as a Soviet
Socialist Republic.
Georgia:
In 1918 Georgia declares itself independent from the Russian
Empire. In 1921 it is invaded by the Red Army and absorbed as a Soviet
Socialist Republic.
