Motivation is what makes a person act and strive to achieve certain goals. This is perhaps the most powerful factor in human performance. But the effectiveness and even just the performance of many local managers is far from expected. One of the reasons for this situation is that most owners and managers do not know and do not know how to use motivational tools. In addition, the problem of motivating managers is more complex and diverse than the problem of motivating any other category of employees.
The concepts of "motive" and "motivation" are used in the analysis of the foundations of human behavior. They are often used to refer to different aspects of the same psychological mechanism. Although these concepts are related, they are not synonymous. Therefore, it is important to take into account the existing differences in their content.
Reason is a type of mechanism that creates activity and determines the direction, content and activity of human behavior. A motive is formed on the basis of social experience and in this sense represents a need enriched by the experience of human activity, as well as social values, norms and other elements of culture to satisfy it. Each motive corresponds to a specific need, and a specific subject of activity can be found to satisfy it.
As a regulator of activity, motive has three functions: 1. Intimacy to activity, activity (energy potential);
2. Choosing the direction of activity ("motive-goal" vector);
3. Giving personal meaning to the activity (perhaps not for all motives, but only for the leader), which increases the level of awareness of actions and reasons for actions.
One of the most important characteristics of a person is that any of his activities is polymotive, that is, it is based not on some motive, but on a certain set, a set of motives that have a certain relationship with each other. . The concept of motivation is used to express the influence of all motives on the actions of a person. In this regard, we can say that motive is the basic unit of motivational analysis.
