What is a bad time?

This type includes "when?", "how long?", "how long ago?", "since when?", "until when?" When answering the questions, the main part includes the subordinate part. etc
Conjunctions are used to add time suffixes to the main part: when, after, before, until and others with similar meaning. However, it's safest to ask questions to make sure it's a time value and not something else.

What is a subordinate clause?

Such grammatical constructions: "Under what circumstances?" Answers the question. They are very diverse and are joined by unions, if, if, if not, and so on. But the meaning of the condition does not always guarantee that it will be fulfilled in the sentence. Because in most cases, a loop, for example, with if, is translated not "if", but "if". Compare:

  • If they invite me, I will come - if they invite me, I will come.

  • I don't know if he will invite me - I don't know if he will invite me.

Participles in English are found in past, present, or future tenses. In addition, the conditions put forward have their own levels: real, improbable and not real. This can be best understood with examples.

i write

The subordinate condition belonging to the first type describes a real fact . That is, something that actually happened in the past, present or future. At the same time, the tense forms of the verb-predicate in the main and subordinate clauses usually agree.
This is evident in the examples.

  • Past Tense:

If the weather was good, he went for a walk - If the weather was good, he went for a walk.

  • Current time:

If the weather is good, he will go for a walk - If the weather is good, he will go for a walk (go).

  • Future Tense:

When the weather is good, he goes for a walk - When the weather is good, he goes for a walk.
Only in the last example, one can notice that the two parts of the complex sentence do not match in time (the correct conjugation is in the present tense, and the main one is in the future). This is not accidental, but the result of a special grammatical rule that subordinate tenses and conditions obey. Details will be explained later.
At the same time, consider the manifestation of subordinate conditions of the second and third type. They no longer open in the three grammatical tenses, but take the meaning "if, then...". In addition, such a hypothetical situation can apply both to the present and to the past.
