Describe an unusual meal Well, I’m very much into the uzbek traditional cuisine, and most of the time when I have something to eat be it during lunch or dinner I opt for an uzbek dish. But I also love spicing things up a little by experimenting with different food to see if I can discover something new for me because sometimes having the same food can be quite boring isn’t it. So, I’d like to talk about one of those events when I tried completely different food.
Normally, I have lunch outside with my friends or colleagues. We go to a nearby restaurant which offers a broad range of foods, most of them being traditional and the prices are really good as well. But last weekend one of my colleagues suggested going to a Chinese restaurant which had opened just recently. And we went there and I was struck by how well the Chinese culture was incorporated into the restaurant in the form of paintings, sculpture, and everything and this actually made me even more excited about trying Chinese food. But when the waiter handed us the menu, we understood nothing on it, because we never tried Chinese before, so we ask the waiter to choose for us.
He showed a dish called hot pot and we ordered that. And we also ordered some drinks. So in like 30 minutes the dish arrived in a huge bowl with around 10 different spices in different smaller containers. The food was big enough to feed four people. And of course, as it was an unusual event, we took pictures of the dish and I actually like the food, it was a little bit spicy, but it’s not a big deal as I am used to eating hot things.
Describe a person you met at a party In general, I don’t like partying because I feel uncomfortable when there are too many people around me and when people organize a party in my country they make it a point to invite every single relative and friend of theirs. But from time to time, when my friends insist I cant say no.
One such event was last year when I was invited to the wedding party of my close friend. When I got there, there were at least around 300 people there and yes this is how big uzbek weddings are. And we have this tradition that we bring several musicians to the party and they take turns to sing during the wedding party. Normally, I don’t really care about those singers because most of the time they are amateur musicians. But that day was kinda special for me because I got to see one of my favorite singers.
Actually, I didn’t see him, I heard the song and the song was of course familiar and first I didn’t believe it was him, I thought there were just playing the recording but then when I turned around to check out the stage, I realized that it was him. And as any fan would do, I stopped eating and got closer to the stage and enjoyed his presence there. I patiently waited for him to finish his performance and then after he went to the backstage, I followed him and of course I wasn’t the only one there.
I asked for a picture and autograph to which he didn’t say no and he was very respectful towards his fans, which made me like him even more.
