E. CONCLUSIONS
Conducting students’ needs analysis, the teachers used four types of need analysis. They
conducted: (1) target situation analysis, (2) wants, means, and subjective needs analysis, (3)
present situation analysis, and (4) lack analysis. The types that the teachers take to conduct
students’ need analysis are generally in line with the ideal types of conducting students’ needs
analysis, since they missed some essential types.
It is suggested for the teachers to conduct the complete types of needs analysis to know
students’ needs such as Learning Need Analysis, Linguistic, Discourse, and Genre Analysis, and
Means Analysis. It is done in order to know the overall students’ needs in learning ESP
Speaking. Then, for developing the materials, the teachers should try out the material before it
becomes a final material. Trying out the materials will help the teachers find out the weaknesses
or limitation of the developed material. Later, it will be easier to be revised.
